Formal Training & Background:

1984 – Bachelor of Science, University of Missouri-Columbia, Interior Design

1984-1986 – Designer at Total Look Interiors in Tucson, AZ. She assisted customer selections in carpeting, tile, drapery, paint and residential space planning. 1986-1990 – Drafted and designed architectural blue prints for custom and semi-custom homes, for codes approval by the city of Tucson for building permits. These included designing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC plans, as well as functional kitchen plans. 1990 – Concluding that no green lawns were to be had in Tuscon, she moved back to this area.   (Well actually, it was to be closer to family…) 1991-1997 – Employed by Payless Cashways, assisting customers in Kitchen cabinet selection also selection of countertops and backsplash tile. Designed kitchen and bath spaces, using Auto-Cad design software fluently. She also arranged deliveries and followed up with any customer assistance needed. She was the only designer to receive top sales honors for volume of custom non-stocked cabinetry.

1997 – present Kitchen Designer at Armstrong Kitchens, handling from beginning-to-end, a wide assortment of “turn-key” custom kitchen projects. She specializes in creating one-of-a-kind individualized kitchens mainly for remodeling situations, combining all of the integrated skills she has acquired through her many years of experience.   These involve designing the most functional spaces, creating and reviewing mechanical and structural requirements, rendering creative ideas with both computer aided drafting tools and hand drawn detailed plans, as well as providing full specifications for her kitchen projects.   An NKBA trained kitchen designer holding AKBD and CKD certifications, she combines both technical expertise and interior design skills to provide “the complete package” for her clients.   

Some Professional Accomplishments: •  Work and interviews often published in Kansas City Homes and Gardens (KCH&G) Magazine, Kansas City Star magazine, and other area publications.   •  Platform speaker at the KC Remodeling Show •  Annual judge for “Home of the Year” contest for KCH&G •  Frequent guest speaker at Park Hill school district High School advanced interior design students. •  Frequently assists the Kitchen and Bath students at JCCC by standing in as a model client for  projects.  

Personal: Vicki grew up a world traveler due to her parents’ work in the airline industry.   She lived for a number of years in Saudi Arabia, where she notes there was also “no green grass!”   Dan and Vicki Ferm live in the Parkville area.
